Hello, my fellow employees. It is hard to believe this year is almost over. I look back over this past year and realize how lucky I am to work with so many dedicated public employees. Thank you.
What a crazy election year we have had. I don’t think I have ever seen an election that appeared so divisive. After hearing how public employees are faring in other states, I am glad that I live and work in Utah. I hope everyone has had the chance to read about Gov. Gary Herbert’s proposed budget. I have talked to UPEA’s Executive Director Todd Losser and I want you to know that UPEA staff members have been meeting with House and Senate leadership to talk about and look for ways to enhance the proposed state employee compensation increases. A lot can happen between now and the close of the legislative session, and UPEA will work hard for all of us through this time.
Every day we are able to witness many great things performed by public employees. Please take a minute to recognize your fellow employees through the “Public Employee Salute” program, which in turn allows the citizens of Utah to learn about the great things we do.
At this time of year, take time to reflect on all we have been blessed with and look for opportunities to brighten someone’s life.
