H.B. 209 – Mental Health Protections for First Responders

Rep. Karen Kwan (D-Murray) sponsored H.B. 209 – Mental Health Protections for First Responders, which allows first responders to access mental health services through workers compensation.

UPEA spoke in favor of the bill saying “We would like to thank Representative Kwan for her work on this bill, which will help first responders who have experienced a traumatic situation in a first response situation.  UPEA asks that the bill move forward with a favorable recommendation.” H.B. 209 passed out favorably of the House Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice Standing Committee and will be sent to the House floor.
