Two New Staff Members Join the UPEA Team

Christy Berk is one of two new staff members to join Utah Public Employees’ Association (UPEA).

Christy, who began working for the Association on June 4, was raised in Sandy. A recent graduate of the University of Utah, she has a bachelor’s degree in political science with an emphasis in campaign management and strategic communications.

While attending the U. of U., Christy participated in many different internships and jobs within the political realm in Utah and in Washington, D.C. She interned on a congressional campaign, was the field director of a mayoral race, was an assistant campaign manager for a ballot initiative, and spent January – May of this year in D.C. as an intern in Rep. John Curtis’ office.

In her free time, Christy enjoys reading, cooking, playing rugby, and cuddling with her cat. She is excited to put her policy knowledge to work during the legislative session and has enjoyed working with and getting to know UPEA members.

Hayden Baird is the newest addition to the UPEA team. She moved to Provo from Texas to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, with a minor in Peace and Justice Studies. She is excited to put her degrees to use. Hayden also interned in Washington D.C. for Senator Lee and wants to continue working and fighting for others.

Hayden is an avid outdoors woman. She likes to go camping, climbing, and canyoneering. She also likes to golf and play tennis and has become a big Jazz fan since moving to Utah 8 years ago. She is a stunt woman for various projects, and her favorite birthday treat is pizza. Hayden is excited to be here and can’t wait to meet all of the members of the UPEA.
