Hi, I am Mark Murray, president of the Utah Public Employees’ Association (UPEA). First, I would like to thank all of you for your participation in UPEA. This is a critical time of year to make sure employees are informed and active in the legislative process. Each of you helps to make changes that are beneficial not only to members of the association, but to all public employees.
I would like to remind our membership of the upcoming election and encourage you to vote. As a reminder, the Citizen Action by Public Employees (CAPE) Committee has endorsed several candidates. Please take the time to review the endorsements and vote for the candidates who will best represent us as public employees.
Our UPEA staff has been working hard to ensure that the discussion regarding state employee total compensation is fair and beneficial for employees. An article in the newsletter describes proposed changes and the discussion that took place. Please take the time and thank our staff members for their hard work and dedication.
Please watch your email for invitations to the prelegislative updates at your agencies. Our staff will bring information about our legislative package and answer your questions about the upcoming session. I encourage you to attend these legislative updates and bring your fellow employees who may be interested in UPEA.
It’s almost time for the holiday season! Mark this event on your calendars: UPEA will hold its Holiday Open House on Dec. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Members and nonmembers can stop by to have some lunch and celebrate the holiday season.
I would like to thank you for all that you do in your districts and for the hard work that you do at your work sites. You are amazing.
Sincerely,
Mark Murray
