Join Us in Recognizing the Public Employee Salute Winners

The Utah Public Employees’ Association (UPEA) is proud to participate in the Public Employee Salute Program.  The idea for the program began in 1999, when a past UPEA executive director noticed that KSL Radio had a special segment to recognize Utah teachers.  The segment is commonly known as the “Teacher Feature.”  However, there was no feature recognizing Utah’s public employees.  The following year, the UPEA and Mountain America Credit Union Public Employee Salute program began.

The following individuals have been nominated and recognized with the Public Employee Salute:

November 2019

Officer Dave Dorius 

Officer Dave Dorius is a correctional officer with the Utah Department of Corrections. He is recognized for his honesty, work ethic, and knowledge of policies and procedures. Dorius is encouraging and helps push coworkers to find success. He is a valuable asset to his department and community, never hesitating to aid other officers or help offenders in need.

Chanin Johnson 

Chanin Johnson has been a public employee for 23 years, and is a probation officer with the 4th District Juvenile Court. She is dedicated and works tirelessly for families when youths are referred to court. Johnson seeks out the best solutions for individual situations and follows through by guiding and directing the youths and their families to help them make changes for good.

Anna Chacon

Anna Chacon is a senior assistant caseworker with the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). She is acknowledged for going above and beyond her own responsibilities to help other caseworkers. She has the ability to foresee what needs to be done and does it. Chacon is prompt, knowledgeable, and accurate. She is an exceptional employee.

Elaine Lau-Manley

Elaine Lau-Manley is also a caseworker with DCFS. She shows great support to all of her coworkers. She is appreciated for bringing treats to the office to share, lending a listening hear, and coming up with clever ideas. She is always making people laugh and assists to help decorate the office. She is a great advocate for her clients, going out of her way to make sure families know that she cares and wants to see them succeed.
